Euro 2012: Quarter Finals Preview - Will England Beat Italy?

Quarter Final 2: Germany vs Greece

Germany: For many, the tournament favourites, and will have a game plan already sorted for the quarter finals they easily expected to reach. After overcoming their group with little issue and only a slight bit of complacency against Denmark they will enter this Quarter final full of confidence ready to take on a team not fancied by many people. Match Plan: They have to control the game, don€™t allow a spirited Greek side to get at them and panic them. They may need to limit their attacking threat early on to assure their killing off of the Greeks by maintaining the ball; but giving the ball to Schweinsteiger and Ozil should allow them to dictate the game and get me good ratings for my fantasy team. Tournament Expectations: To win, so far they have looked more confident and assured than any other team and they must maintain this mentality if they can achieve their potential and win the tournament. Greece: The team who brought us one of the biggest shocks in 2004 have brought us another one by overcoming group favourites in the final Group A match and then qualifying to the quarter finals. They have remained solid throughout but have lacked a degree of quality in the middle of the park and in the final third and will need to remain calm if they want to beat the heavily fancied Germans. Match Plan: Get up them early, kick, bite, maul, do anything that could shake them up and allow them to get an early goal. If they allow Germany to dictate the pace from the beginning it could be a long night for the Greeks. Tournament Expectations: I fear a repeat of 2004 isn€™t on the cards and this will be where Greece bow out.
