Everton 1-2 Swansea City – 6 Things We Learned

5. Everton Must Ease The Goalscoring Burden On Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku is in stellar form, with 12 strikes in his last 14 appearances, but when it€™s not his afternoon, you have to wonder where Everton€™s goals are going to come from. Everton laid siege to the Swansea goal after the break - with Gerard Deulofeu putting countless crosses into the box - and had no fewer than 20 shots on goal. But the wasteful Blues lacked that clinical edge and ultimately have themselves to blame for the defeat. Playing with eight men behind the ball at times, Swansea dealt with the threat of Lukaku well, and nobody else in a blue shirt looked capable of stepping up to the plate. With Steven Naismith - a player who could have served as an effective impact sub this afternoon - recently swapping Merseyside for Norwich City, Martinez must bring in attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window.
