Crucially though, Everton's most realistic route to European football will be forged only with their best players intact. Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini represent relatively irreplaceable talents, both a trophy away from being considered world class. Equally, the talents of Jack Rodwell & Ross Barkley, a pairing who may well prove to be as vital for England as they are for Everton, may find themselves being the victim of debt-ridden circumstance and mean any actual signings prove largely redundant.
