Alessandro Pistone actually began his Premier League career at Newcastle United, signed by then manager Kenny Daglish for £4.5m in July 1997. He spent 3 years at the Magpies, featuring heavily under manager Bobby Robson after being frozen out by Ruud Gullit, scoring his only goal for the club against Middlesbrough in 2000. Despite this, he joined Everton in July 2000 for £3.5m for what would be an injury-ravaged time at the Toffees. He appeared in their first game of the season before a succession of injuries limited him to just 8 appearances in his first season at the club, with him also missing the majority of the following campaign through injury also, although he did score his first goal against Bolton Wanderers. He eventually managed to overcome these injuries and featured in most of Evertons successful 2004-05 season, signing a two-year deal when they qualified for the Champions League after initially rejecting a one year deal. Sadly, he would feature just three more times before suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury that ended his Everton career. He failed to make any more appearances at the club, having made just 103 appearances in seven years on Merseyside and was released in 2007.
