Everton’s 2004/05 Champions League Qualifying Squad – Where Are They Now?

26. Lee Carsley

Combative midfielder Lee Carsley was a rock that sat in front of the Everton rear guard and added true grit to Moyes€™s 4-1-4-1 lineup. After a shaky start to his career on Merseyside, the Ireland international came into his own during the 2004-05 term. He found the net five times that year, his most memorable strike being the winner in the 200th Merseyside derby, a netbuster that earned him the Everton Goal of the Season gong. Carsley ended his playing career with Coventry in 2011 and his since gotten into coaching, serving as caretaker boss at the Sky Blues and, more recently, Brentford. He proved popular at the Championship club, but severed ties with them at the end of last year.
