Everton academy product James Vaughan exploded into the senior setup in 2005 when he became the youngest player to score a Premier League goal during a substitute appearance against Crystal Palace on April 10. He made one other sub appearance that season. Vaughan was just 16 years and 271 days old at the time, which is awfully early for a career to peak. Unfortunately for him, thats what happened at Everton as injuries hampered the remainder of his time at Goodison and prevented him from reaching double figures in the scoring stakes. A series of unspectacular loan outings and a forgettable spell at Norwich followed before Vaughan found success at Huddersfield Town, becoming a fan favourite for a short time. At the age of 27, theres life in the striker yet and hes getting gametime at Birmingham City, who signed him on loan last year.
