Every Current Premier League Club's Biggest Transfer Bust

19. Aston Villa - Bosko Balaban

An unfamiliar name to younger supporters, Bosko Balaban was actually something of a marquee signing when he made his way to Aston Villa for a fee close to £6 million, a pretty penny back in 2001.

It appears that the club immediately realised their mistake taking a punt on the Croatian however, as Balaban would go on to make only two Premier League starts in as many years, with a handful of appearances from the substitutes' bench failing to endear him to the Villa faithful.

Balaban would leave the club in 2003 and go on to enjoy a journeyman's career across Europe, before ending his career in 2012 after a brief spell in Malaysia.
