These days Wolves have used their Portuguese influence to establish a team that is more than capable of challenging for Champions League places, but things haven't always been so rosy.

Back in 2011, the club signed English defender Roger Johnson for a fee believed to be close to £7 million. Handed the captaincy by then-manager Mick McCarthy, big things were expected of the former Cardiff talent.

Things quickly turned sour after McCarthy's dismissal though, with Johnson reportedly turning up drunk for training after a loss to West Ham. A nightmarish two successive relegations would follow, with Johnson finally leaving the club after having his contract terminated by mutual consent in 2015.
