14. Crystal Palace - Emmanuel Adebayor

Throughout his storied career, Emmanuel Adebayor has cemented himself as something of a journeyman to the stars, plying his trade at some of the world's biggest clubs without ever getting too settled in one place.

So when the Togolese legend made his way to Selhurst Park as a free agent back in 2016, you might assume that it was a shrewd investment by Palace.

The problem was, earning an eye-watering £100,000 a week, Adebayor needed to justify his wage with goals that just didn't seem to come. A lone strike in a defeat to Watford marked the former African Footballer of the Year's only goal in 12 appearances at the club before being released when his contract expired at the end of the season.
