Every Current Premier League Manager As Footballers Ranked - Worst To Best
6. Mikel Arteta - Arsenal
After graduating from Barcelona's academy but failing to make a first-team appearance for the Catalan giants, Mikel Arteta would enjoy spells at PSG, Rangers, and Real Sociedad before going on to make his mark in England at Everton.
Arteta would make more than 200 total appearances on Merseyside before signing for Arsenal in 2011 where he went on to become captain, leading the Gunners to successive FA Cup wins in 2014 and 2015 before hanging up his boots the following year to take a coaching job at Man City.
Such was the regard that Arteta was held in as a player that he was even once approached by then-manager Fabio Capello to see whether the uncapped Spaniard would be able to turn out for England due to his British residency, though it was ultimately nixed by FIFA.
