8. Barcelona 3-1 Juventus (2015)
Pep Guardiola may have been the Barca boss to usher in the era of tiki-taka, but the Luis Enrique-led team of 2015 was arguably the Catalan’s most dynamic.
In Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, Barcelona boasted a frontline that was the envy of Europe. This victory over Juventus represented the peak of a golden era for the club, with the three South Americans firing Barca to a sensational treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League.
But Juve were no slouches themselves. Under Massimiliano Allegri, they had already won Serie A and the Coppa Italia and ran Barcelona closer than the scoreline might suggest.
While it was Barcelona who took the early lead through Ivan Rakitic, Juventus stayed in the game thanks to some excellent saves from Gianluigi Buffon and eventually levelled things up through Alvaro Morata, 10 minutes into the second half.
At that point, the game was anyone’s with the next 18 minutes or so proving end to end stuff. Ultimately it was Barcelona who regained the advantage courtesy of Suarez, finishing off a rebound from a Messi shot.
But Juventus didn’t go down without a fight, pushing forward in search of an equaliser with Fernando Llorente introduced to give the Italians an aerial outlet.
Barca were only able to seal victory with what proved to be the final kick of the game, a slick counter-attacking move finished off by Neymar. An evenly matched, eventful and entertaining contest.
