10. Dimitar Berbatov
The Expectation Last season, the Bulgarian was one of the top five scoring forwards in Sky Sports' fantasy football league, bested only by Suarez, Van Persie, Rooney and Villa's Belgian sensation Christian Benteke. Given a new lease of life at Fulham after the threat of being put out to pasture at Manchester United, Berbatov defied the inevitable criticisms of laziness and luxury to score 15 goals in 33 appearances as Martin Jol's side came 12th. At just £7.5, the return of 182 points, with 24.26 points per £, was huge, and under 3 points per £ away from top scorer Suarez. That form would have made him a good option for layers looking to play 4-3-3, with two more expensive strikers, especially since his price this year in the Premier League's fantasy football league is just £7.4.
The Problem Berbatov isn't scoring yet. He has a very modest return of 8 points so far, but the problem is more how he is playing: anyone who saw the Newcastle vs Fulham game will have seen how deep Berbatov played, effectively taking on an ineffectual playmaker's role within midfield (and occasionally behind it.) If he continues that, he's not going to pick up the same kind of points as last year, and players will be stuck with a luxury, but relatively cheap player who cost around the same as Danny Wellbeck, who has more than double his point already.
