Fantasy Football Tips: 4 Reasons To Get Rid Of (Almost) Every Man Utd Player

3. Who You Should Keep Though

I recommended Patrice Evra and David de Gea in my previous editions, because they are the only bright spots in an otherwise dull and gloomy defensive set-up. Other than these two players who actually know what defending is, and hence able to provide a competent stream of points, you shouldn€™t be having any other Manchester United player in your first XI, or your bench for that matter. The defense as you know has been something that Manchester United been struggling with. Despite getting 10 clean sheets this season, scorelines have been rather deceiving, in United€™s favor. Any ardent Red Devils fan can point out that their defense needs some serious work in the summer transfer window. I€™m banking on the defense to get some more clean sheets and hence points, but as far as I€™m concerned, Evra and de Gea are the only ones who can maximise this potential. Since de Gea has settled down to life in the Premier League, he's facing virtually no competitors for his No. 1 spot. Anders Lindegaard hasn't been used at all in the league this season, as opposed to the 900 minutes of playing time he was given under previous manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Almost the same story for Patrice Evra, the only viable rival to 'challenge' the 32 year-old's spot in the starting eleven is Alexander Büttner, and to be frank, he probably doesn't know what "challenge" means. In the three matches this season that Evra didn't finish the full game, he got a combined total of 15 points before taking his leave. With an otherwise guaranteed 90 minutes every week, you wouldn't have to worry about the duo missing out on points. With a rocky back four and numerous rival players heading into the final stretch of the season in prime form, bet on it that it€™s going to be humiliating for the champions, just like your points overall should you have any more United defenders in your team. This time last season, United scored 14 goals and conceded only three during the months of January and February. This season, the team led by new manager David Moyes only managed to knock in 11 and conceded a whopping nine times. Psychologically, this have a draining impact on the offensive players, who regularly see their contributions overwritten by a moment of foley by the defenders. Increasingly frustrated, the unhappy midfielders and forwards will experience a dip in their performances, illustrated by the fact that Manchester United has never won from a losing position at half-time this season. None of Manchester United€™s midfielders have exceeded 70 points. Even de Gea has more points than them for Christ€™s sake.
