Yes, he has had a good couple of weeks, hasn't he? Hot off two highly impressive performances (and a corker of a goal) for England as they booked their place at the World Cup, the 22-year old enhanced his reputation further still by scoring again and putting in a man of the match performance as Tottenham moved into 5th place with a 2-0 victory away at Aston Villa last weekend. Certainly before the international break, questions may have been asked over his end product and how he had managed to hold down a first team place over record signing Erik Lamela, having only managed to contribute substantially to the cause when he won the penalty converted by Roberto Soldado in the 1-0 win over Swansea in August. But, surely, these last two weeks have silenced the critics indefinably. Next up for Spurs come Hull City, who themselves have started well on their return to the top flight and will surely pose a threat. But if Spurs want to push for Champions League places, these are the games they must take 3 points from, and Sunday's encounter and Townsend's performance will be key in determining the outcome of that.
