Fantasy Football Tips: 9 Essential Transfers You Must Make In Gameweek 30

Players You Need To Drop:

3. Roberto Soldado

Team: Tottenham Hotspur (vs Arsenal, home) Position: Forward Value: £8.4m Selected by: 5.1% Total Score: 92 If you look at Soldado's total score, you might be wondering why I'm suggesting dropping the Spaniard. There are a couple of reasons. Firstly, Soldado has been blowing hot and cold the entire season. In the first 10 games of the season, he amassed a total of 51 points. During the following 10 games, he notched up only 28. In the remaining matches in which he played a part in, he earned himself a mere 13 points in 5 appearances. Even during his red-hot spell, his points were fluctuating up and down week in week out, leading me to believe that he hasn't quite settled down in England just yet. His talents are undoubted of course. I was a big fan of him when he was playing in Valencia, but his habit of consistency is very much the opposite of undoubted during his current stay in North London. Secondly, Soldado do not get a guaranteed 90 minutes to work his magic. In the 20 matches he started for the London outfit this season, the Spanish international only completed the entire game on 10 occasions. For someone of his calibre and his pricing, it only shows that he's not performing at a level which we all know he's capable of. Considering how Tottenham scored 12 of their goals before half time and a contrasting 25 in the last 45 minutes, including 5 in the last 15 minutes, substituting Soldado might make him lose out on a substantial number of points. Thirdly, the striker's price tag is not really value for money at the stage of the season, where risks should be meticulously calculated and errors eradicated to a minimum. At £6.6m, £1.8m less than Soldado's price tag, Jay Rodriguez (Southampton) has already obtained 34% more points than the Tottenham player, and plays with a solid consistency that sees him score 11 times this season, coupled with 3 assists in 29 appearances. Comparisons with other players such as Rickie Lambert (Southampton) or Yoan Gouffran (Newcastle United) will bear similar conclusions, that for someone with his pricing, it's not worth the gamble.
