Considering Swansea's issues last season, it's hard to overestimate Gylfi Sigurdsson's value to them last season. He scored 9 goals - from 115 shots in total - assisted 13 times, including 8 from set-pieces and created a total of 72 chances. Sadly, his team-mates were conspicuously toothless, scoring only 45 in total, or he might have had more assists.

If you're looking for an explanation of why Sigurdsson's value in the real world transfer market sounds so obscene, it's because he's priceless to Swansea. Last season, the closest player to him in terms of chance generation was Wayne Routledge, who managed only 25.

Even if - as it inevitably seems - Sigurdsson leaves Swansea this summer, he will be just as involved in attacking play: he's very much a focal point (or he should be, as Spurs discovered by not making him one), and he'll profit from better players and better play next year. That ultimately should mean more points.
