Fantasy Premier League Tips: 17 Best Opening Day Performances Analysed
8. Joe Cole (West Ham United) - 11 points
You could be forgiven for having forgotten about this man. The former England international put in a fabulous opening day performance, scoring once, and being awarded the 3 bonus points for an 11-point showing. The former Liverpool and Chelsea man is back at his home club since January, playing a few games last season after not playing a single minute in 2011/12 for the Liverpudlians. At 31 years old, he could play a massive part for the Hammers if he can stay fit. At £5.5 million, there's a fair few Fantasy managers who'll be taking a punt on him anyway!
7. Kevin Nolan (West Ham United) - 11 points
Another West Ham midfielder who had a fine opener, the former Bolton and Newcastle hard-man grabbed a goal to share the 3 bonus with the aforementioned Joe Cole. Unlike Cole, Nolan's a consistent proven performer for West Ham, who'll add points to your team week in, week out. Consequentely, he's more expensive at £7 million. Despite averaging 9 yellow cards a season, he has scored a slew of goals over the past 2 seasons, and is probably worth the outlay, provided he steers clear of injury, suspension, and dips in form - all of which he is prone to from time to time.
