One player who has stayed right where he is is Chris Smalling, which is quite fitting really considering the Manchester United defender's career hasn't progressed in quite the way he had hoped for when he moved to Old Trafford from Fulham in 2010. The centre-back was used sparingly under the Sir Alex Ferguson regime and again had limited playing time under his successor David Moyes last term, making just 19 Premier League starts. The defender was however still able to claw his way into England manager Roy Hodgson's 23-man World Cup squad this summer though made only one appearance for his country at the finals in Brazil with the Three Lions being knocked out at the group stage. At 24 it was hoped Smalling would have moved a little further down the line with his development by now but with veteran centre-halves Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic leaving the club this summer, the youngster could get more opportunities to prove himself in 2014-15. His performance levels don't warrant movement from his current rating of 78, however.
