Football League Week 2: 5 Teams That Impressed This Weekend

wwww The second weekend of the League Season is finished and we€™ve seen some teams continue their impressive starts, others continue their not so impressive starts and many teams get the first points on the board this season. Last weekend threw up some notable surprises, with Oxford demolishing Portsmouth, Newport County hitting the ground running on their football league return and Championship new boys Yeovil Town picking up a surprise away victory at Milwall. Following on from Tuesday€™s Capital One Cup ties this weekend was jam packed with excitement, surprises and fantastic performances, here€™s my pick for this weekends most impressive performances€

5. Chesterfield

ChesterfieldResult: Chesterfield 2-0 Cheltenham Chesterfield started the season as most people€™s (including mine) favourites for promotion this season. After a narrowly missed attempt at the play-offs last season Paul Cook€™s men are hoping to go a few steps further this time around. The talismanic Jack Lester retired at the end of last season and life post Lester is going pretty rosy at Chesterfield. The Spireites continued their impressive start to the campaign with a confident 2-0 victory over fellow promotion chasers Cheltenham which sees them go joint top of the table along with Oxford and Fleetwood. Gary Robert€™s superb solo run and goal was a particular highlight of Chesterfield€™s weekend.
