Manchester City once again broke a transfer fee when they paid £52 million for Benjamin Mendy. This came only 10 days after City broke the previous record for a defender with Kyle Walker!

Mendy came to Manchester City after just one year at Monaco, where he made five assists and helped the Ligue 1 side to the title. Mendy had a terrible first season for Manchester City however, playing only seven times due to a knee injury. It's hard to judge if Mendy was worth the fee, so we'll reserve that until the end of the coming season. £52 million for the young left back still seems like a bit much but a full season with City could prove us wrong.
