Frank De Boer Distances Himself From NUFC Job

The Ajax head coach's agent says he is "happy" in Holland right now.

Frank de Boer has once again distanced himself from the Newcastle United head coach's role - with the Ajax boss' agent claiming he is "happy" in Holland. Guido Albers also revealed that, although a number of clubs from around Europe had contacted Ajax about De Boer's availability, the Magpies were not one of them. Newcastle have been looking for a head coach since Alan Pardew left for Crystal Palace at the turn of the year - with John Carver taking control on an interim basis until the end of the season. Although Carver wants the job, he has won just two matches since and the Magpies have been dragged into a relegation fight.
De Boer's decision to commit to Ajax comes just a day after Derby County boss Steve McClaren revealed he turned down the chance to become Newcastle boss for the final three matches of the season. Speaking to Sky Sports, De Boer's agent Albers revealed:
"Frank has informed Ajax he will stay next season. Frank will not be leaving the club in the summer. "There have been many approaches from other clubs, not Newcastle, but he is happy at Ajax."
Former Holland international De Boer is one of the most-promising young coaches in Europe and has led Ajax to four Eredivisie titles since taking charge in 2010, although they will finish second behind PSV this season. He would be the first choice of many Newcastle supporters to take over at St James' Park. Real Sociedad's David Moyes, Rayo Vallecano's Paco Jemez, Real Madrid first-team coach Paul Clement and former Olympiacos boss Michel Gonzalez are just some of the other names to be linked to the Magpies hotseat in recent days.
