How A World Football XI Might Look In 5 Years Time

Goalkeeper - THIBAUT COURTOIS

Courtois is probably the second-best goalkeeper on the planet already, behind the freakishly good Manuel Neuer, but he has so many years ahead of him it's absolutely frightening. It's madness that he is only 22 years of age. The Belgium number one enjoyed a superb loan spell at Atletico Madrid, and he has got off to a supreme start to life at Chelsea. The youngster seemingly doesn't have any weaknesses to his game, showing an excellent temperament, terrific shot-stopping, good decision-making and intelligent use of the ball week in, week out. His potential is enormous, and there is no reason why he can't become one of the all-time great 'keepers in time. Courtois will still only be 27 in five years time- arguably still years from his peak at that point too, considering a goalkeeper's prime is normally in their early 30s- and considering how strong Chelsea look under Jose Mourinho, he may well have a fair bit of silverware to shout about by then too. David De Gea is another who will certainly be up there, and at 28 Neuer isn't going anywhere for a long time either. Courtois stands out in the long-term though, and is a truly fantastic 'keeper.
