Hull vs West Ham: 5 Reasons Why Tigers Can Pull Off An Upset

Steve Bruce's Hull City welcome Sam Allardyce's West Ham United to the KC Stadium for a 3pm Premier League kick-off today. Here's five reasons why The Tigers can once again pull off an upset in this tie, just as they did last week when they turned over a 3-2 win at Newcastle United last Saturday.

5. Hull Have Started Strongly

If you had asked Steve Bruce when the fixture list was printed if he'd be happy with 7 points from his first 5 games, which would included Chelsea and Man City I think the answer would be a definite yes! Despite getting promoted to the Premiership Hull had been on a bad vein of form having only won 7 of their last 18 games, this stat would look as evidence to the contrary of the article title if two of those wins hadn't happened in their last two games against Newcastle and Huddersfield. Also out of their last 8 games (including a friendly against Real Betis) they have managed to keep 4 clean sheets, 3 of these being at home.. There is the old adage that you need to score to win football matches (often referenced by Mick McCarthy), however a good start to staying solid at the back and whereas many promoted teams seem to struggle for points and clean sheets during the first 10-15 games of a season Hull seem to have started brightly on both counts. On the point of goals, the good news for Hull is they aren't relying (thankfully) on miss-shooting Danny Graham who hasn't scored in over 20 games, rather their goals are coming across the team which is always a good sign for any team regardless of their pedigree or league.
