6. Olympiakos
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvMfq4OGnRc One of the biggest nights in Liverpool's recent history. The game that kick started Liverpool's quest towards Istanbul. Liverpool found themselves trailing 1-0 to a Rivaldo free kick and the result looked beyond doubt - Liverpool would go out. Liverpool's second half performance was inspired as they found the three goals they needed to go through - with Carragher and Gerrard at the heart of everything. With only four minutes on the clock the ball fell to Jamie Carragher about 35 yards from goal and a little out to the left. Rather than aimlessly dump the ball into the box, Carragher skilfully Cryuff turned and chipped a delicate left footed lob into the Olympiakos box which Neil Mellor headed down into the path of an on-rushing Steven Gerrard. What followed was pure European magic, "OHHH, YA BEAUTY! WHAT A HIT SON! WHAT A HIT!" The celebrations were amazing and Carragher was right there in the thick of it with Gerrard and a couple of fans who rushed to the advertising boards. Carragher may not have been the guy scoring the goal but he definitely contributed a whole lot to the game and was a massive factor in Liverpool getting through to the last 16.
