After representing England's beach soccer team after retirement, John went on to fill a corporate hospitality match-day role at the club but was sacked by Mike Ashley after making critical comments in the local media. His relationship with the club has been rekindled since then however. He currently splits his time between media work and also hosts his own Legends' Tour at St James Park, where "guests will enjoy a stadium tour then meet our Legend John Beresford in the Media Suite. John will give a Q & A Session then take the group to Home and Away Changing rooms and share his experiences. Then a trip down our players tunnel for a view of pitch side and photos."
