Leicester City Vs NUFC: Head-To-Head Analysis

2. Midfielders - Esteban Cambiasso (LCFC) Vs Jack Colback (NUFC)

If Leicester City manage to stay up then Esteban Cambiasso has to be regarded as one of the signings of the season - no question. The 34-year-old Argentine moved to the East Midlands after the Foxes tracked him for months and beat off competition from other suitors, and he has been brilliant in recent weeks. Jack Colback, meanwhile, has been one of the few positives from Newcastle United's wretched second-half to the season and the free transfer from Sunderland can hold his head up high. In Colback's 31 Premier League appearances, he has contributed four goals and five assists. Cambiasso on the other hand has scored the same number of goals in less appearances (27, including three as a substitute), although the deep-lying midfielder has provided just a single assist.
When it comes to their distribution, Cambiasso's pass-success rate is 74.3% for the season and he average 1.2 key-passes per game. Colback averages the same number of key-passes per game, but his pass-success ratio is considerably higher at 88.2%. Cambiasso likes to sit that little bit deeper and control the game as a general, shouting at his players and managing the tempo, whereas Colback is far more industrious as a 25-year-old and tries to influence the game on the front foot.
Verdict: This one is almost a coinflip - Colback offers youthfulness and greater legs than Cambiasso, but the Argentine is majestic on the ball. Cambiasso probably just shades it due to his experience and the way he controls the game, but only just.
