Livepool Transfer News: Rodgers Wants Sahin, Walcott & Johnson

New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is plotting moves for three attack minded players to bring to Anfield as the summer spending at the Merseyside club is set to continue.

The Daily Mirror reports that Fulham's wantaway USA international Clint Dempsey "seems certain to arrive at Anfield" before the end of the transfer window despite an apparent stand-off over his transfer fee. They also suggest Rodgers is in the market to bring in a new winger after the departure of Maxi Rodriguez and the uncertainty of the qualities of Stewart Downing and are monitoring Arsenal's contract rebel Theo Walcott and Manchester City winger Adam Johnson. The Mirror also reports that the Reds are attempting to hijack Arsenal's attempts to sign Real Madrid's Nuri Sahin on loan with a desperate last ditch loan with a view to a permanent deal offer for the midfielder. Rodgers is hoping his close relationship with Madrid boss Jose Mourinho from their days working together at Chelsea will help sway Jose into allowing Sahin to come to Anfield. Despite the hunt for new additions this summer including the now completed £15 million capture of his former Swansea midfielder Joe Allen, Rodgers is reportedly "quietly satisfied" with his start as new Liverpool boss and is taking many positives from their impressive performance and victory in the preliminary round of qualifying for the Europa League this past week against FC Gomel.
