Why They Should Buy Him:

One of the places where Liverpool were lacking this season was in defence; players like Sakho and Lovren didn't manage to offer solid defensive cover week in week out and for a large chunk of the season a midfielder (Emre Can) was filling in as a centre back. Diego Godín has been linked with the club on numerous occasions before, and he'd be the solid defender the Reds have been crying out for.

He's got a lot of experience of top leagues, having played in La Liga since 2007, for Villarreal then Atletico Madrid, so he'd add a steady hand for all the younger players, especially with Liverpool losing Gerrard's experience for next season. He's also got experience of Europe. something useful for the Reds as they try to clamber back into the Champions League.

Why They Shouldn't:

While Godín would be a good signing for Liverpool, it's debatable whether he'd actually want to come. Atletico have been doing well in both La Liga and Europe in recent seasons, and have qualified for the Champions League, so it's unlikely that Godín will want to jettison that to play in the Europa League.

He wouldn't come cheap, either. He's an international reaching his peak, who's a key part of Atletico's team, so it would take a lot of money to prise him away.
