Surely this spells the end for the manager. There is no returning from this utter embarrassment. The players will point the finger at him for the defeat. And he will point the finger at them for it. How do you make that unhealthy situation healthy again? Theres been a lot of talk this week about Liverpools identity as a club as they continue to "move forward" under Rodgers' management. Well Liverpools identity right now is a club that has finished sixth in the Premier League and lost by a record margin at Stoke City. A club thats lost home and away to Crystal Palace, was humiliated at Wembley by Aston Villa, couldn't figure out a way to beat Hull City and crashed out of Europe. Twice. The team trudged its way through the last two months of the campaign and three wins in 10 tells its own story. What came before was bad enough but the Stoke game was downright embarrassing. A new low. The worst for 52 years. The biggest Liverpool defeat in Steven Gerrard's career on the last day as a Liverpool player - a degrading epitaph to an Anfield CV that puts him among the greatest ever. Gerrard's face painted the picture - he looked apologetic. Sorry he couldnt sort it. Sorry that his manager had no idea how to sort it, either. Liverpool were bullied, battered and humiliated by the ninth best team in English football. It has to be the end for Rodgers.
