Liverpool: 5 Reasons Luis Suárez Is The Undisputed Player Of The Year

1. Talent > Behaviour

Suarez Let's get this right before I lay this point out: Suárez is not an angel and I would not be stupid to label him as such. He has a rap sheet the length of the Anfield pitch but he is not alone. At the start of his Liverpool career Luis was foolish to think he could dive around and still be loved by the media. Diving is cheating and even when your player wins you a penalty by diving it is wrong and sometimes it is right to say something to the player. After the dive at Anfield against Stoke City, I believe Suárez has tried really hard to turn his persona around. He still has those flashes of red mist (if it were Rooney we'd call it passion but because it's a foreign player we'll call it evil Devil anger and scream in hysteria) but when it comes to diving Luis is staying on his feet a lot more and is now starting to turn the opinion's of the referees around, we probably have Brendan Rodgers to thank for this turn around in behaviour. Now, the reason I've brought this up is to ask what the PFA Player of the Year Award is based on. Is it won because someone has been the best footballer in the league for a whole season? Or is it won by a player with a bland, passionless face who has gone the whole season without fouling a single player? Someone who has behaved like a monk. Well, if the criteria for winning the award is based on the latter then I say none of these players should win this award. Bale is a serial diver, RVP has a nasty streak - he is often compared to Dennis Bergkamp who used his elbows to "good" effect (a la Shearer) and Suárez is a pistol. Let's be honest, if Suárez continues his form right up 'til May and is named the leading goalscorer and isn't declared the Player of the Year it will be because of his behaviour not because he lacks talent. But, who the hell wants football to be based on good behaviour? I want it to be based on skill, vision, passion, hard work, determination, aggression, lethality and art - Suárez is all these things and should be named PFA Player of the Year because of this. Talent > Behaviour or Behaviour > Talent? I hope the correct criteria is chosen. But, I won't hold my breath. Who do you think should win the PFA Player of the Year Award? Bale? RVP? Grant Holt?
