3. Scouting System
At the end of the summer transfer window Brendan Rodgers identified operational issues after the failure to bring in another striker after Andy Carroll was allowed to leave on loan to West Ham. Since then Liverpool have appointed a new head of scouting and recruitment in Dave Fallows, formerly of Manchester City, while they also appointed Citys ex-Chief Scout, Barry Hunter. Those additions, as well as Rodgers, have had time to settle in now and the signings of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho in January indicate the club have got their act together. With Jamie Carraghers retirement in the summer and question marks over Martin Skrtels future hanging in the air, it looks like Liverpool will have to dip into the market again this summer, and they will hope to avoid shelling out big fees for overrated players as the Reds have done in the past.
