Liverpool Dream XI To Win The Premier League 2014/15
7. Steven Gerrard - Centre Midfield
Gerrard may be in the autumn of what has been a sensational career, but he remains a key player for Liverpool this season. His slip against Chelsea and below par displays for England in Brazil seem to cloud many peoples judgements, and they seem to forget that he came second only to Luis Suarez in last season's Footballer of the Year voting. The 34-year-old is thriving in his deep-lying playmakers role, pinging trademark passes across the pitch and dictating the pace of games in typically effortless fashion. As long as the Reds skipper has runners alongside him in midfield- his pace and dynamism are no more- he won't get overrun, which is the one risk of Rodgers utilising him in the way he does. This particularly applies when facing a midfield of City's power and dominance. Gerrard will be chomping at the bit to avenge his nightmare end to 2013/14, and despite Liverpool having plenty of younger midfield options, he remains one of the first names on the team-sheet.
