Liverpool Dream XI To Win The Premier League 2014/15
8. Javier Manquillo - Right-Back
With Johnson no longer good enough to be a first-team regular- his place in the squad is even debatable such is the poorness of his performances these days- and Jon Flanagan still very much a work in progress, Manquillo simply has to be first-choice right-back this season following his loan move from Atletico Madrid. Although the 20-year-old is actually younger than Flanagan, he already looks a more complete player than his English teammate. Admittedly first-team football was very hard to come by at Atletico, with the terrific Juanfran keeping him out of Diego Simeone's starting XI, but he showed on an impressive debut against Southampton that he can slot straight into the team. Manquillo is good on the ball, reliable defensively and improving his attacking game all the time, and the fact he has represented Spain from Under-16s level right up to Under-20s outlines his credentials. He could be the senior side's long-term solution at right-back.
