Has there been a more improved player in the Premier League over the last year than Henderson? The progress the 24-year-old has shown has been quite extraordinary, and he has gone from being a figure of ridicule to one of the most important players at the football club. Henderson's box-to-box style, combining relentless pressing, underrated passing and an ever-improving eye for goal, make him essential to Rodgers' plans, and as his three-match suspension at the end of last season showed, you only realise how good he is when he's out of the team. The former Sunderland youngster is approaching the peak years of his career, and there is every chance he could end up evolving into the long-term replacement for Gerrard in the centre of Liverpool's midfield. He lacks the genius of his older teammate, but he can become a truly top class player in his own right.
