Liverpool Fans' 8 Most Disliked Players Of The Modern Era

5. Paul Konchesky

Roy Hodgson's atrocious six months or so at Liverpool were among the most dismal in the club's history. The current England manager simply never looked comfortable in his role, and some of the signings he made were beyond awful. Although the likes of Danny Wilson, Christian Poulsen, Joe Cole and Brad Jones are enough to make even the toughest Reds fan shudder, Hodgson's decision to sign 29-year-old Paul Konchesky seemed to epitomize his time in charge. Konchesky was not even close to being good enough to play for a club as big as Liverpool- he was solid at best for Hodgson's Fulham side prior to his move to Anfield- and his incredibly poor displays were often met by groans and jeers by the watching supporters. In fairness to Konchesky, it's not his fault Hodgson made a move for him, but as the results got worse and worse, he became increasingly unpopular and a scapegoat. The former Charlton man made just 18 appearances for the Reds in total, before Kenny Dalglish sent him on loan to Nottingham Forest, having replaced Hodgson as manager. He never played for the Reds again.
