Liverpool Transfer News: Daniel Agger Wants Barcelona Move?

Daily Mail. Despite the Reds denying they have received an offer for the 28-year-old, it is believed Barca have made a bid of £15 million to secure the Denmark international. Brendan Rodgers is adamant that Liverpool will retain the services of their vice-captain but that may change today as Barcelona wait to see whether or not Chelsea defender David Luiz will push through a move from Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian is also on the Spanish champion's radar this summer but Agger represents the cheaper of the two options. The Denmark international only signed a new contract last season but a new bid from Barca would give Rodgers a problem. The defender's agent, Per Steffensen said:

"We are aware that Barcelona have made an offer for Daniel that Liverpool have rejected. "Daniel has a contract with Liverpool for the next three years and it would be up to the clubs to agree a fee for his transfer in order for that to change."
Agger joined Liverpool from Brøndby in 2006 and has since become a mainstay in the Red's defence in recent seasons, making 35 Premier League appearances last term. He has twice been named "Danish Footballer of the Year", most recently in 2012, and has won the FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield during his time at Anfield. If Liverpool do sell, they may replace the centre-back with Paris St Germain's Mamadou Sakho, while the Merseyside club have also made a £5 million bid for Granada left-back Guilherme Siquiera.
