Liverpool Transfer News: Holtby Open To Anfield Move

Is the half-English Schalke midfielder going to end up in the Premier League? According to a report by ESPN, Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby, who has an English father, has admitted that he would welcome a move to Liverpool as he begins the final year of his current contract in Germany. The midfielder, who has played for Schalke since 2009, after leaving Alemannia Aachen, joked that any family loyalties would not get in the way of him potentially joining the Reds, who ESPN claim have been linked with the 22-year-old German U21 captain since negotiations on a new deal began with Schalke:

"I have always said that one day I would play in England. I wouldn't even rule out Liverpool, even if it would be tough for my dad - he's an Everton fan."
The report states that Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has indicated that negotiations are progressing solidly, but no agreement has yet been reached. The GM also told Bild recently that he was aware of interest from other clubs:
"I know there are concrete offers and clubs are interested."
ESPN claim that while Holtby indicates he would be open to a move to join Brendan Rodgers' side, the midfielder recently confirmed his affection for Arsenal's style of play. What do you think Liverpool fans? Would you welcome the signing of Holtby? Could he represent a solid addition to Rodgers' squad and help to rejuvenate the ailing team? Share your thoughts below...
