Liverpool Transfer News: Luis Suarez Extends Contract At Anfield

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has agreed a new long-term deal with the Merseyside club.

The 25-year-old Uruguayan originally signed a five-and-a-half-year deal when he completed his move from Ajax in January 2011 for a reported £22.8 million. Despite having four years left on his current contract, the forward has extended his deal further. Suarez has been linked away from Anfield ever since his bust up with Manchester United defender Patrice Evra which ended in Suarez being found guilty of racial abuse. Suarez is now seen as the future of attack at the club, especially with new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers seemingly expressing his intention to sell Suarez€™s teammate Andy Carroll. Manager Brendan Rodgers said:

€œThere were certainly a few clubs interested in him but he's committed himself for the long term here now. I'm delighted. When you have the opportunity to work with world-class players it's fantastic."
Suarez told Liverpoolfc.com:
"To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city.€
