Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Must Cut Losses On Andy Carroll

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has warned Liverpool that they must accept a significant loss on £35 million signing Andy Carroll if they are to sell him this summer.

" John Madejski used to say to me about certain players, just wipe your nose and move on. "And I think are going to have to do that with Andy."
Newcastle made a "loan with a view to make permanent" deal for Carroll just over a week ago that was immediately rejected by the Anfield board who preferred to only discuss a permanent sale of their most expensive player in history. The Toon have yet to come back in with another offer for their former number 9 but new boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that the club are willing to accept offers in the £20 million range for the England striker. Pardew believes Carroll's fate at Liverpool was obvious when Rodgers took charge and that Newcastle are still in the hunt to bring him back home to the North East. Pardew continues;
"I think it was obvious that as soon as Brendan went into Liverpool that Andy's time was going to have to be somewhere else," "I think it's quite right we're involved in that. Whether he comes here, is something that I will take or I will leave. "It's a lot of money for Mike , although we'll obviously be getting a big upside in terms of what we sold him for and we've got three great strikers here already. "But of course as the manager I want the best players I can get."
Carroll is currently away with the Liverpool first-team squad on a pre-season tour of America. He has scored 11 times in 54 appearances for Liverpool. source - bbc news
