Liverpool Transfer News: Reds To Miss Out On Christian Eriksen?

talkSPORT. Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has signed four players so far this summer - Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Manchester City defender Kolo Toure, Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas and Barcelona B midfielder Luis Alberto. But the Northern Irishman is now looking for a "higher calibre player" and is thought to be keen on Eriksen. The Ajax midfielder is also thought to be interested in speaking to Liverpool, with just one year left to run of his current contract in Holland. The 21-year-old star has already turned down a move to Bayer Leverkusen this summer. The starlet is contracted at Ajax until 2014 and the Dutch side are pushing for as renewal, but are facing a battle to retain his services next season. AC Milan have reportedly entered the mix, and are hoping to scupper Liverpool's ongoing interest. The Serie A giants scouted Eriksen last year and their interest appears genuine, with Massimiliano Allegri set to make a bid. Eriksen is seen as one of European football's most exciting players. He scored 10 goals in 30 appearances last season to help Ajax to the Eredivisie title, their third successive crown.
