Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Tracking Burak Yilmaz?

burak yilmaz Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is tracking Galatasary striker Burak Yilmaz, according to Team Talk. The Northern Irishman is drawing up a shortlist of forwards to replace want-away Luis Suarez, should the unsettled Uruguayan secure a move away from Anfield this summer. A host of the continent's leading clubs have shown an interest in Suarez, with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal all displaying a vested interest in the 26-year-old. Should the ex-Ajax man leave Liverpool this summer, Rodgers wants to bring in a big name to replace him, and has identified Yilmaz as one option who could help fill the void. Yilmaz is considered one of the best strikers in Europe, and the Turkish international netted 24 goals in 30 league appearances for Galatasary last season after arriving from Trabzonspor. The 27-year-old has also enjoyed spells at BeŸiktaŸ and Fenerbahçe, and has scored 126 career goals. Galatasary president Unal Aysal recently admitted the Turkish giants would be prepared to sell the forward despite having only signed him a year ago, but only if a high enough offer was received. He said:
"We have set a price for Burak Yilmaz. We will only consider an offer which is in the best interests of the club and player. "If Burak wants to leave and our transfer demands are matched, we could accept a deal."
Liverpool have already completed the signings of Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Manchester City defender Kolo Toure, Luis Alberto of Sevilla and Celta Vigo's Iago Aspas.
