Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Want Ex-Chelsea Star Saloman Kalou?

Liverpool are lining up a move for ex-Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou, according to the Mirror. Kalou, now with French club Lille, is believed to be open to a return to the Premier League, just over a year after leaving the Blues on a free contract. As well as interest from Liverpool, domestic rivals Tottenham are also said to be keen on the 28-year-old, while Arsenal have also been sounded out as their manager Arsene Wenger tries to cope with a striker crisis. Roma and Besiktas have also been tracking the Ivory Coast international, but Kalou's favoured destination should he quit the Stade Pierre-Mauroy is the Premier League. And Reds boss Brendan Rodgers could grant him his wish with Daniel Sturridge still out with an ankle injury and the emphasis to provide more cover for Luis Suarez. Kalou scored 60 goals in 251 appearances for Chelsea and also provided 40 assists, helping his side win the Premier League in 2010 and also four FA Cups, the most recent in 2012. He was a Champions League winner with the Blues that year but was allowed to leave when his contract ran out. Lille are likely to listen to offers from as little as £2.5 million.
