Liverpool Transfer News: Rodgers Wants Michel Vorm To Challenge Pepe Reina

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has until January to prove to Brendan Rogers that he deserves to be the No.1.

Daily Mirror, Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has until January to prove to Brendan Rogers that he still deserves to be the team's No.1 and that he can fit into the new style of playing. After a shaky start to the new campaign where Reina has made bad errors against Hearts and Arsenal, the Mirror are reporting that the new Kop boss could consider a move to reunite with Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm in the January transfer window for added competition for places. The Mirror claims that the 3o-year-old Spaniard has found it difficult adjusting to Rodgers' philosophy of playing football out from the back and encouraging defenders to pass and receive from the 'keeper. If Reina doesn't improve, Rodgers could go back to 28-year-old Vorm who impressed in his first season in the Premier League and who already has experience playing the Northern Irishman's possession based philosophy. Reina has now entered his eighth successive season as the number one goalkeeper since signing from Villareal in a deal the Mirror report was worth £6 million in 2005. He has often performed heroics for the Reds but the Mirror claims there is a feeling at the club that he lacks serious competition from back-up choices Brad Jones and Alexander Doni. What do you think Liverpool fans - should Reina get more time? Would Vorms be a good replacement? Share your thoughts below...
