Liverpool Transfer News: Wesley Sneijder To Sign For Galatasaray, Beating Reds
BBC. Having had their initial bid accepted, the Dutchman then stalled on the move and was linked with a move to the Premier League and Liverpool, and captain Steven Gerrard spoke recently of how he would love nothing better to play alongside him at Anfield. But the Turkish outfit have finally agreed personal terms with the player and the transfer will be completed today after he undergoes a medical. Sneijder told the club's official website: "It will be amazing and the atmosphere will be nice, I can't wait to go there and play my first game, I will make the Galatasaray fans very proud and very happy. I'm looking forward to meeting them and making a good life together." It is thought though that Sneijder was keen on a move to the Premier League, but missed out when a serious offer failed to materialise. He hasn't played a competitive game for Inter Milan since September and club officials told him he would not play for them until he agreed to a cut in his wages, which the player refused. In December, Liverpool were said to have been lining up a bid of £9.5 million to rescue the Dutchman's career, but it is Galatasaray who beat them to the punch. A statement on Galatasaray's website read:
"The transfer of Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan has been agreed. "The conditions of the deal will be made public and the player will sign the contract after health checks ."
