After Robert Lewandowski departed Dortmund for Bayern Munich last summer, Aubameyang really came to the fore and excelled in a season which saw Dortmund languish at the lower regions of the Bundesliga for a great chunk of the season.

Despite their poor form, the Gabon international racked up a decent tally of 15 goals and 8 assists, featuring predominantly as a striker, but working equally as efficiently when deployed in a wider berth.

Aubameyang, at 6ft 1, offers much more of an aerial threat than Sterling, which would come in just as handy when it came to defending set-pieces (and Liverpool need all the help they can get in defence), as it would attacking them.

The wing-forward offers an immense amount of pace that is unrivalled by most forwards in the European leagues, and also possesses a greater shooting accuracy (59%) than Sterling (53%).
