4. Dimitar Berbatov

The talented Bulgarian had an outstanding 2012-13 in his first season with new club Fulham,
notching 15 goals in 33 appearances. The 32-year-old striker has a proven record over many years in the Premier League, having spent 4 years at Manchester United, and just over 2 seasons at Tottenham before that. He's also not at the most prestigious of clubs, and it's not a stretch to imagine him reacting favourably to a suggestion of a move to Anfield. However, he's only spent one season at Fulham, and it's difficult to envisage Berbatov risking his Premier League first-team football at this stage of his career. As well as that, Rodgers may consider that his money might be better invested on a younger player, who might spend a few seasons scoring high tallies, rather than spending dead money on a 32-year-old, however good his scoring records are.
