Liverpool are in the market for a new centre-back considering stalwart Jamie Carragher has called time on his playing career and one option available to Brendan Rodgers is Ajax's Toby Alderweireld. Alderweireld has been a key member of the Dutch club's three successive Eredivisie championship-winning teams and has also been a target for Norwich City, but turned down the chance to ply his trade at Carrow Road despite the Dutch giants accepting a £7 million offer from the Canaries. The 24-year-old Belgium international only has one more year left remaining on his contract at the Amsterdam Arena and could be tempted by a change of scenery given he has spent the past nine years of his career at Ajax having joined their youth academy in 2004. Considering his contractual situation he's likely to come cheap, too.
