Liverpool Transfers: 4 Players Rodgers Desperately Needs To Replace Today

4. Sebastian Coates

Uruguayan centre-back Sebastian Coates has put in a number of dreadful performances for Liverpool this season - not that he has made that many appearances. He has only played one full Premier League game all season and that was back in August. Since then he has been used mostly in cup competitions like the FA cup, and after a woefully inadequate performance in Liverpool's humiliating 3-2 defeat to Oldham, Brendan Rodgers is prepared to let him go. On a day when Rodgers needed his young team to step up to the plate, they wilted under the pressure of Paul Dickov's team and Coates was consistently outmuscled and run ragged by former non-league striker Matt Smith. Rodgers has previous suggested the South American would go out on loan to further his development, but it now looks like he is ready to wash his hands of him instead.
