Liverpool Transfers: 5 Best & 5 Worst Ever January Deals

2. Luis Suarez

Next up is possibly one of the most divisive and controversial characters in world football. Though there cannot be too much debate about how valuable Luis Suarez has been too Liverpool since his January move two years ago. Although he took some time to find his goalscoring form Suarez€™s class was evident from the minute he landed on English shores. He was a nightmare for any defence facing him with tricky movement, devilish footwork and a blinding chance of pace creating plenty of chances for teammates as well as setting up a few of his own. Unfortunately the Uruguayan took a little time to find his shooting boots and was rather wayward during his early days at Anfield scoring just four goals in his first half season and then 17 in all competitions in the next. This time around has been a rather different story. Suarez has 22 goals already in just 34 appearances and seems to have improved his shooting drastically. The old creativity is still there but an added goal threat has reaped 17 league goals leaving him below only Robin Van Persie in the Premier League goalscorer charts. The next question is how long can Liverpool cling on to their star striker? A player of his ability will certainly be keen to be playing in the Champions League, a competition his current club are unlikely to reach next season. Manchester City and Bayern Munich have both been linked with Suarez over the past few months and it would be no surprise to see him lining up for either come the autumn.
