Liverpool Transfers: 5 January Signings To Get Back In Title Race

3. Yohan Cabaye

With injuries leaving Liverpool short of cover at left-back and centre-back, so too have they left the Reds looking a little light in midfield with Joe Allan becoming the latest casualty on Sunday. The central midfielder was forced off on the hour mark against Chelsea with a groin injury while Steven Gerrard is struggling with a hamstring injury and Philippe Coutinho has suffered from inconsistency, spending a considerable amount of time out of the side this season. Yohan Cabaye could be just what Liverpool need right now, all things considered, and the Reds were handed a boost in landing the Frenchman when Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger today ruled out making a January bid. Cabaye is good on the ball and can pick out a pass, and would be experienced cover if the likes of Gerrard, Allen and Coutinho continue to struggle for fitness, lending Brendan Rodgers's squad much needed depth and leaving them better equipped to compete when the fixtures start flying in toward the business end of the season.
